At Modern Dentistry we are now able to offer comprehensive orthodontic treatment to our patients without the need to refer to an orthodontist. This can often work out significantly cheaper than having to see an orthodontic specialist however for particularly complex cases a referral to a specialist may still be required.

Who can get braces?

Pretty much anyone! We can provide orthodontic treatment for all our patients, young and old.

Cosmetic options

For our younger patients, the more traditional metal braces tend to be the best option. For our adult patients who are put off by the appearance of metal braces we can offer clear braces which not only provide the same end result but also look fantastic. When should I get braces?

As a rule of thumb the best time to get braces is in your early teens .There are some instances where orthodontic treatment may be required as young as 7 years old when early invention can prevent much bigger orthodontic problems later on in life. We treat a lot of adult patients and get great results. There really is no upper age limit to undergoing orthodontic treatment.

Will I need teeth removed?

The short answer is it depends. For the majority of patients we can achieve great results without removing teeth. Sometimes there simply isn’t enough room in the mouth to make the teeth fit in which case removing teeth may be the only realistic way of achieving a nice smile.

How do I get started?

If you are interested in pursuing orthodontic treatment then you will need to book in for a consultation. At your consultation the dentist will take photos and moulds of your teeth and any relevant dental x-rays. We can then make a decision as to whether we can treat you in our clinic or whether a referral to a specialist would be a better option.
